Electric Cars in India

It was two decades back when Maini set up its first research plant in Bangalore. Seven years later in 2001 , they first came up with an electric car known to us as Reva . There was a lot of criticism about this car being badly shaped and unsafe for highways but it was a good package for city commuting saving our fossil fuels. It was launched at ₹2,50,000 in 2001 and now it costs a whooping ₹5,00,000 lakhs.
It is not that I criticise any car , any brand or advertising for anything, I just want to bring you people the mindset of majority of people in India before buying a car. Most people prefer buying a diesel car over petrol just to obtain a good fuel efficiency , Right ? They spend more money buying a diesel compared to its petrol variant and the icing on cake is that they think to save money due to the difference in price of petrol and diesel. There are just a handful of people who buy electric cars and in fact even keep it in the option list while buying a vehicle.
Even people who can afford to buy multiple cars and most of them who already own , don't buy these. The very simple reasons behind these are the myths that people have. For ex Does it costs a lot to maintain an electric car ? The real world statistics show that electrical cars require much less maintenance than cars with gasoline engine.
It's a high time , the environment is going worse everywhere. If you don't want The Odd Even policy to be legislated in your region it's better to switch to electric or hybrid cars and help save our future.
